Installment Savings Calculator
Calculate net maturity amount and interest for fixed deposits and installment savings.
Installment Savings Calculator
A tool that applies monthly contributions, rate, term, interest method, and tax rate to calculate contributed principal, interest, and net maturity value.
How to use
Enter the monthly contribution, contribution period, and annual interest rate. Choose simple or compound interest, a compounding frequency, and a tax rate, then select ‘Calculate Savings Maturity Amount’ to review principal and gross and net interest separately.
What are installment savings?
Installment savings add a set amount at regular intervals, and each contribution earns interest for the time it remains deposited. Unlike a term deposit, contributions start at different times and therefore earn interest for different lengths of time.
Calculation basis and formula
The first contribution earns interest for the full term and the last for one final period. Simple interest is proportional to each contribution's term; compound interest accumulates at the selected frequency. The entered tax rate is applied to interest.
Annual rate versus actual interest
An annual rate does not mean every contribution receives a full year of interest. Later contributions remain deposited for less time, so interest can be lower than simply multiplying all contributed principal by the annual rate.
What the calculation excludes
Differences in payment dates, missed or extra contributions, promotional or variable rates, early closure, fees, local tax law, and product-specific rounding are not included. Check the actual product terms before making a decision.
Ways to use the result
Use the calculator to estimate a maturity amount from an affordable monthly contribution or compare savings plans with different terms and rates. To compare term deposit and installment savings returns, calculate the same total principal once as an upfront deposit and once as recurring contributions, then review the difference in how long each amount earns interest. For a target amount, try changing the monthly contribution and duration to explore several plans.
